Norwegian Elkhounds are one of the most beautiful breeds of dogs and when you get exceptional genetics with extreme diversity the beauty magnifies.
Norwegian Elkhound Excellence
Kaleva and her daughter, excellence in genetic preservation and preservation breeding
Years ago I had the opportunity to bring in a Norwegian Elkhound sire from an incredible lineage of Show Champions. Pretty Boy Leif, he has been truly an amazing stud dog. His ancestors of course the most recognized show Champions in North America.
A few years later again I was blessed to have the opportunity to bring in the Beautiful Silver Nova. She has been instrumental in providing an outcross bloodline to our exceptional working lines and the match-ups have been so awesome.
Fast forward a few more years and I had the absolute pleasure to welcome one of Finland’s cherished lineages, a male stud named Karu. Karu as you all know just like Silver Nova was from the best possible bloodlines over there. We were fortunate enough to get a litter from Silver Nova and Karu.
I was unable to get a mating yet with Pretty Boy Leif and Silver Nova. So, I held back two daughters from that famed Karu and Silver Nova litter, Kaleva and Kessa.
Today, I have the joy to share the stunning daughter of Kaleva and Pretty Boy Leif with you all. She is down with Tammy and Chris and is soon to go to a new home. What an incredible thing it is for all of us to witness how this endeavor, over years, with intense genetic diversity and quality can yield these profound pups.
We have a duty as preservation breeders to utilize and keep genetic diversity strong, blend genetics from regions far apart and utilize the very best that we can breed. There is little doubt for any that our program and combinations of genetics is doing just that.
Hats off to all the breeders that have went before us, and welcome to all the breeders that come after, we will continue to strive to preserve unique, diverse and excellent genetics for generations to come.
