In North America for at the very least going back 130 to 150 years Elkhounds have been around and known. Few however, if any are as legendary as the foundation females of Kamia Kennels. Off Leash masters these females dominated the entire off leash arena of dogs.
Canada specifically has a vast range of remote terrain and hiking dogs in remote terrain off leash requires capability and skills far beyond normal dogs. Literally 1% or less of all dogs are skilled in off leash, and only a very minute portion of those few are skilled in remote terrain.
These five legends I speak of today created a vast base of foundation females and males to provide the genetics for moving forward the next hundred or more years with Elkhounds and remote terrain genetics.
