Preserving Norwegian Elkhound genetics requires preservation bloodlines of impeccable quality and one of the main requirements is age. Foundation genetics need to be taken at the last possible chance, the last litter for lack of a better phrase. When the female is at her most senior time to still produce yet as much time passed to extend the genetics without change.

These are incredible genetic combinations and I’ll outline some details for everyone why they are so profound.
Jaegar is the father of both Tikka and Silver Nessa – this alone is an amazing preservation aspect for the 
Norwegian Elkhound breed as Jaegar is the last link in male genetics to the two decade old pairing of the famous Mia and Takoda. Jaegar is 14 years old and this will be the only the second genetic change since he was born. Phenomenal slow down of the genetic change using these old daughters of his. The health aspects that are so apparent to anyone even remotely aware is nothing short of Wow!
These are some seriously healthy dogs to extend this breeding way out in life. I mean we know that Takoda was still virile as he sired a litter with Gaeda at 12, that virility is in these granddaughters of his, Tikka and Silver Nessa.
Just that fact alone is enough literally for anyone wanting an incredible pup but now you bring in the most diverse genetic bloodline of Norwegian Elkhounds outside of the country, which is our import Karu. 
Karu was selected as he is from the most respected and awarded Norwegian Elkhounds in the old country. Champions lining up his background to the start of the Association. The Finnish Kennel Klub is the oldest of the three Scandinavian clubs and this genetic has never been in North America before.
Now we get to add in the background of this legendary Karu, his mother is the famous Triple Champion Rittu, a Champion Bear Hunter, Moose Hunter and Show Champion. Karu’s father Kamu is Finnish Moose Champion. Karu’s grandfather Kassu is a double Champion and I have a photo of him and Rittu both awarded top honors at the big Finnish show in Joensuu Finland. Incredible foundation dogs.
Tikka’s mother has contributed some of the very best Norwegian Elkhounds in the world. Her daughters have all been truly incredible. Tikka and Phoenix, two of the best, but do not forget Tekla, who I have always considered to be the absolute best female Norwegian Elkhound in the world. She and her twin Tuva have been incredible. We have genetics from this bloodline throughout our program. MANE, Teeko are two of the grandsons of Kamp, the mother to Tikka. This is Ravenstone bloodline genetics. 50+ year breeder, I am positive the record for most championships at the Tufts shows still belongs to that legendary kennel. I have a photo of Kamp and Jaegar, stunning Elkhounds.
Then we come to the Beautiful Silver Nessa, no introduction needed for this stunning beauty. We all know she is the daughter of the Beautiful Silver Nova who we imported as an outcross for our ancient lines like Jaegar and his brothers MANE and Teeko.
Silver Nessa has already proven to bring out the absolute best Norwegian Elkhounds as she has had a previous litter with Karu. Huff, Clue, Daisy all of those remarkable Elkhounds are from that litter. Silver Nessa is a better dog than her mother but her mother is truly remarkable in her own right. 
Silver Nova has a who’s who background of the very best as well. Her father is Armani, top Norwegian Elkhound in 2018, he is a Gold Standard Male Norwegian Elkhound in the North American rankings, of which only 6 Elkhounds have ever achieved. A phenomenal achievement. Her mother is Champion Silver Princess, a stunning beauty with ties back to some of the best old bloodlines there is, one of of which is highly sought.
I’ll be putting out further indepth details on Tikka and Silver Nessa as we progress towards the litter, but I needed to get this announcement out as Karu and Nessa just hooked up last night. Tikka was a few days before.
Only males will be available from the Tikka litter and we are retaining a matched pair from Silver Nessa and there are other pups already spoken for as well. You need to reach out to Michael or me right away and we can get you on this list.
