Full Blood Female Elkhound

Insane good female full blood Elkhound training at the Northern Alberta facility with Michael and Sarah

Wow, such a beauty, she is flawless. We are so blessed to have the background genetic depth in our program to bring this quality of excellence back into the genetic base.

Two hundred years ago you would have saw females like this all over Northern Sweden and it would be common to encounter these incredible Elkhounds. Now, today the revival of them is the boreal forest area of Alberta in the Rochester/Athabasca region north of Edmonton.

We are placing them all over North America but at this point all breeding and restoration of the Full Bloods is at Michael and Sarah’s facility. One of the best facilities in the world for genetic preservation but also for instinct preservation.

Genetics are one part of the equation, instincts have to be preserved as well. In order to ensure instincts are preserved they have to be observed in work and in actual remote terrain. Instinct preservation requires different time frames and observation than just genetics.

The Desna training program allows Michael and Sarah to view the instincts at work in these full bloods to ensure the instinctive skill is passed down. Genetic preservation requires both, so we ensure that both are present.

This stunning female shown exhibiting all the traits at an early age, instincts are woke up already, she is a flawless working Elkhound.

The background dogs were selected from Instinct rich ancient lines, all proven to pass instinctive skills. Now, with this litter of Revna and ARCO all exhibiting the quality and excellence of all traits we know these foundation dogs have the ability to pass all instinctive behaviors. This is a huge milestone each and every time a new litter from a foundation pair is matched for the first time. It’s impossible to know in advance on first whelp litters. Once that litter arrives and the pups exhibit all the traits, we know then they will pass it every single time.

Its a fascinating thing to see, to watch and develop this Full Blood program based on the background of great dogs and Michael and Sarah are doing incredible work for the entire Elkhound breeds of all types.
