5300 Km a year trail running – 145,000 meters of ascent!
Off Leash Trail Running Norwegian Elkhound
Yrsa - 5300 Kilometers of trail running a year, Norwegian Elkhound
Yrsa lives with Jeff and Kelly and Angus out on the beautiful Coast of British Columbia. She is a stunning big female, daughter of Jaegar and Silver Nova.
Jeff does training and trail running, he is in competitions and is going literally up and down the mountain with Yrsa by his side all year round. He tracks all his outdoor activities.
“Hey Merv, just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to add some of Yrsa’s stats to the post. I track all my outdoor activities quite closely so I have a fairly good estimate of what Yrsa does as well. For 2023 Yrsa did around 5300 Kilometers of trail running, hiking and walks with about 145,000 meters of ascent. She’s chunky but fit. Jeff”
Yrsa is a solid working Norwegian Elkhound, true bear dog and she has the capability to stay with Jeff and watch his back and front for bear encounters while he focuses on his running and leaves her to handle threats on the trails. A solid working Norwegian Elkhound is one of the very best if not the best dog for trail running and hiking in the world. The genetic instinctive traits in our Kamia Kennels working lines is phenomenal and they are front and center on display throughout the year with Yrsa.
“Merv, here are a couple of recent trail photos, top one is sunrise this morning, of the amazing Yrsa. She continues to be the best dog I have ever know. This past year was an off year for bears. I think we only had two encounters and Yrsa handled them perfectly. We have a good arrangement, I continue to feed her well and she continues to keep me safe. Jeff”
I wish to Thank Jeff, Kelly and Angus for the great life that Yrsa has, she is an incredible female and her time spent with Jeff is amazing. The bond they have is perfect.
Recently I posted some phenomenal photos that Jeff had sent me, along with more comments and feedback on this amazing Yrsa and his time with her.
It’s loaded up on the new Outdoor Hiking Elkhound Site, please visit it and you will see stunning photos and awesome feedback. Thank you Jeff for this great material on Yrsa.
