Right about this time frame, April 2 of 2011 I believe it was I was holding my little buddy Jaegar. He was like the most confident little rascal I have ever seen. Just an absolutely solid fearless guy, so stout, so powerful, at just a little guy too. Only weeks old.
Jaegar and I
I am so proud of Jaegar, what an incredible Elkhound!
Did I know back then that way out here in end of March 2025 I would be talking about his two daughters both having litters. Well, not sure I figured or thought that far out, I knew we would be having litters for a while from this big fella, but did I think this far, honestly, Nope.
Over the years you learn, you plan you understand how long you can take a genetic, you realize the abilities of the Elkhounds and preservation breeding practices improve as you go and learn.
I was very proud of that pup, I thought back then, Wow, what a blessing to have such an incredible opportunity to have such a magnificent Elkhound whelped by Mia and Takoda for me to contribute back to the breed. I am considerably more proud today of that pup. The contributions he has made to the breed and to families, my own especially, but to Ashten, she literally has had him almost all the time and he has been the most loyal Elkhound ever.
Here we are many years later, many changes in our program to include our renowned co-breeders along with our incredible range of Elkhound genetics now. Soon we have offspring coming from this confident rascals daughters, Tikka and Silver Nessa. Both of whom have the most incredible mothers the Elkhound world has seen in North America. I mean, Wow, did I think all of this way back then, Nope.
So it’s incredible for me as a breeder to be at this point, here we are, about to make Elkhound history again. The pups that are coming I fully know with deep knowledge and certainty are going to excel in every aspect. We will hold preservation stock from the litters that will go on to do what Jaegar has done.
Now, at this stage do I look forward to 2040, of course, way beyond in fact. One thing Jaegar has taught me, has taught all the people that he has touched with his pups and presence over the many years is that the Ancient Elkhounds are incredible. We can plan way out with them, they are built for it, will thrive in it and can no doubt preserve for generations after generations.
Those families that are about to get a Jaegar Grandpup, truly they are blessed as I was blessed so many years ago.
