4th and 5th generational litters are coming this spring at Kamia Kennels once again. We are the only preservation breeder with foundation lineages that go to the start of the Association with 4th and 5th generational litters in our program in North America.

4th and 5th generation Norwegian Elkhound pups coming at Kamia Kennels
Varja will be having 4th generation pups in our breeding program and Willow will be having 5th generation puppies. An incredible milestone for a breeding operation is of course the point when you begin to have 2nd and 3rd generation pups, achieving 4 and 5 generations in a program requires decades. Consistent dedication to quality and outcross breeding concepts. Diverse genetics are paramount in a preservation breeding operation. We can not and do not linebreed ( inbreed). Inbreeding leads to health problems down the road for the breed, so as a preservation breeder Kamia Kennels does not inbreed.
The strength of our females and our pups and breeding program is in our following proven generational concepts of our outcross strategy.
The Varja lineage flows down from Kamp shown above through to Tekla, then to Varja. Varja will be mated to Pretty Boy Leif, our outcross import sire. We are expecting these incredible Norwegian Elkhound puppies this spring.
The Willow lineage flows down from Takoda shown above beside Kamp. It flows through Tora, down to Tika and then Willow. Willow will be bred to our Norwegian Elkhound Finnish Import Stud, Karu. Phenomenal pups are coming this spring from Willow. We have had this mating combination before.
Health aspects are critically important to us as we are a preservation breeder. As a breeder that strives to keep generations of lineage going we need to focus more on health and diverse genetics.
What this means for our clients is they get extremely healthy pups that live a long robust life. I recently did a great article on Tegan, one of Takoda’s daughters, she is a 15 year old Norwegian Elkhound female. This female is a full sibling sister to Tora, who Willow flows from.
The incredible Varja lineage is a powerful heritage of great Norwegian Elkhounds with her Grandfather Bram still going strong yet, and he is older than Tegan.
Varja is bred to the famous Pretty Boy Leif, you can view an article on his recent litter with Kaleva, also an incredible Norwegian Elkhound, daughter of Norwegian Elkhound stud Karu and Silver Nova.
The really neat thing about these two litters is that Willow is a daughter of Pretty Boy Leif. So both these litters are going to be some of our best genetics ever, some of the strongest healthiest pups yet.
Varja is up at Michael and Sarah’s and Willow at Wendy and Dale’s. These are our premier co-breeders and they do an awesome job with these Norwegian Elkhounds.
