Two of the top Norwegian Elkhound stud dogs in North America met each other in the Bass Pro Shop parking lot this past weekend. What a momentous occasion for Elkhounds in North America.
Two Top Stud Dog Norwegian Elkhound Males
Kano and Teeko and I, we send Teeko down with Michael to do some training of young Kano and work with Karia for a new litter
Teeko is heading down to hang out a bit with Kano and teach him some old school tricks and wake up his instincts a bit. Michael and Sarah are so excited to have the big fella Teeko come down and be around. Teeko has work to do though, it’s not all just fun and games, he is going to be siring a litter with my old sidekick Karia! Oh Yeah, some fantastic pups coming out of that litter.
Michael, Jess and I had a great visit it was a good time for me to see the new rascal Kano. Oh Wow, what a tremendous young fella, tough as nails, very well behaved, listens to Michael so well. What a great future stud dog.
Now what is really cool about this meeting is the fact that Teeko will be leaving behind some female genetics over the next year or two so that Kano will be able to preserve his ancient genetic. Norwegian Elkhound Teeko is of course one of the last remaining links to the ancient bloodlines of the Norrland and Ravenstone genetics.
The old Norrland blood is basically only found anymore in Kamia Kennels preservation stock and Ravenstone genetics, well pretty much only us as well in that area. Karia, the first mating for Teeko will be one of the best match up females as she is from the stout old world Kalia and her dad is the famous working genetic from Finland, Norwegian Elkhound Karu.
For me to meet Kano and have Teeko there with me, these two signifying decades of work in preservation, well I can say it was a profoundly satisfying time. Michael and Sarah are totally competent and immersed completely into preservation of the old lines and no better place for this revival and extension of preservation breeding to take place than up there.
It’s like a total renewal of the preservation efforts and we can see by these two stud dogs that the future is going to be very bright for the Elkhounds in North America.
To say I am proud of these two top stud dogs is a total understatement, no doubt about that! I want to send a HUGE THANKYOU to Michael and Sarah for all the effort they are putting into the program. It was a big effort for Michael to get away and bring Kano down and let me see him, while he was picking up Teeko for the mating of Karia. Awesome things happening up at Michael and Sarah’s these days.
