Teeko – Preservation Norwegian Elkhound Sire

There are only a handful of Preservation Norwegian Elkhound sires in North America and Kamia Kennels has them all. One of the very best is none other than Teeko, son of Takoda and Tekla. Teeko carries within him some of the absolute best Norwegian Elkhounds ever seen in all countries and history.

Preservation Lineage Norwegian Elkhound Male - Teeko

Few Norwegian Elkhound males carry full Instinctive capabilities anymore. The range of full instinctive males shrinks every single year, and as the gene pool shortens so goes the instincts.

The handler focus instinct is one of if not the most important instinctive ability in all of the instincts residing in Norwegian Elkhound full instinct males. Without this critical behaviour and ability working in remote terrain would become extremely difficult, if not impossible.

Europeans have moved away in large part from focusing on this particular aspect as GPS collars have taken the place of the instinctive ability of the dog to work within the energy and environmental range of the handler. GPS is a false instinctive behavior as the handler does not require the dog any longer to know where the handler is, the dog can simply focus on the animal. Rewarding the ability to stay with the animal completely eliminates rewarding the dog for knowing and working with the handler.

This type of work becomes detrimental to preservation of handler focus, as literally without a collar, you can’t hike with those dogs, they are simply gone.

In North America breeders have focused so much on looks and have more or less abandoned remote terrain work which has lead to a vast group of dogs with little to know handler focus instinct left, remember you can breed out an instinct in 10 generations or less, takes hundreds to put it in. So by focusing almost all aspects on the looks of the Norwegian Elkhounds many if not vast majority are without handler focus. An easy test is to ask any breeder in North America if you can take their Norwegian Elkhound and go off leash with them?

So we have reached a cross roads in time in the Elkhound breed types now that have three somewhat distinct values.

You have the European hunt driven, GPS collar managed group.

You have the North American show driven group, focusing on looks/style.

Then you have us, literally focusing on the opposite of both of them, we focus on “All Instinctive and Structure, Hunt, Hike Behavior, With Genetic Diversity”.

Teeko happens to be one of the very best genetic lineages for handler focus in the world. There are literally thousands of miles off leash with generations of his background in some of the most remote terrain anywhere. He himself excels at the top of the spectrum, rivaled by only related dogs in our program.

Diversity is at it’s peak in his lineage as he brings forward the ancient Norrland bloodline and combines that with the best hunt lines out of Norway and of course the spectacular Ravenstone genetics reside in him.

The pups from Teeko already have shown at very young ages to exhibit the exact instinctive skill level and handler focus ability as is renowned in this bloodline. Teeko has “Proven” in literally the entire set of pups the absolute best ability to pass down the handler focus to them all.

As far as hunt and style goes, one look at his daughter the famous Kuutar you know she can both hunt and is full of style. The thick bulk, powerful structure of Jupiter quickly indicates that all ancient heritage working traits and style are in full force in his pups.

The background is full of great Norwegian Elkhounds. We are extremely proud of Teeko. We are planning another litter this summer with Teeko and we will be keeping everyone abreast of this stunning male.

One thing we know now for certain is that the combination of our ancient lines, combining them with the truly diverse Karu bloodline from Finland yields magnificent Norwegian Elkhounds full of “All” instinctive ability. So we will continue this mating pattern as Karu was brought here for that specific reason.

Karia was the first match up with Teeko, we have Kaleva and Kessa and we are excited about those potential match ups.

Talk to us about the pups from Teeko anytime.
