No amount of good studs mean much without the foundation females. The better the females are the better the male is preserved. Preserving Elkhound genetics is 4 to 1 based on females in almost all cases as the males can be utilized much longer. So the quality of the females is much higher, more pronounced the genetics are used to fuel the next generation.

Excellent foundation females fueling the Norwegian Elkhound and Full Blood Elkhound preservation efforts.
With exceptional females you lay the foundation for decades of excellence combined with exceptional stud dogs. Excellence in the foundation females is critical for full genetic preservation. Females bring different aspects than males. Slight little variations that can mean the difference in full and complete preservation, or just some.
Our program currently is running many generations now of our foundation females. We have 3rd, 4th, 5th and soon will have 6th generation pups on the ground. The excellence has been portrayed every single litter. Each successive generation as good as powerful as the originals. Going back hundreds of years in these lines the genetics maintained. Flawlessly, over and over.
We can see it going forward the same flawless passing of all traits and instincts. The reconstruction of the Full Bloods now will thrive as these old foundation lines are built on the basis way back of Full Bloods. They go back to Full blood genetics over a hundred years ago. Looking at the Full Bloods today is literally like looking at the ancestors early photos of our foundation Elkhounds. Fascinating.
The Norwegian Elkhound types will thrive as our foundation dogs are superior in all aspects. The depth and integrity of genetics is sound. We move forward in our preservation with full confidence.
Michael and Sarah have a monumental litter coming, more than one actually, but the Silver Nessa and Karu litter is a true foundational moment in preservation coming as they will be working with a matched pair of pups that will fuel both sides of Elkhound preservation, the Norwegian and the Full Blood.
They currently have many young foundation females and I will begin to feature them as we go along as they are the foundation of the future.
